When selling products online, the greatest sales tool is the shopping cart. Just like with the real thing you go through a site dropping items into your cart to take to checkout. Checkout calculates your shipping costs, sales tax and total cost.

E-commerce software packages include the cart, the checkout and order processing. In addition it links into shipping through UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL or on line delivery. Accounting information can be exported to many accounting packages.
